Gender and technology

Um, lets start off with saying I'm a female. And while I work as a waitress which is predominately female job, it really doesn't have much to do with technology. Although I am very capable of using the technology at my work, so is everyone else. So even though I haven't had many issues with technology. I have witnessed people generalized by their gender at what they can do. My mother works as a secretary to Smith Floral, and while she is not the only secretary there, they all seem to be female. My friend Anna who is in the secretarial field and who has works with a number of companies usually works with girl secretaries. My father owns and runs Action Appliance Company, he has done this since I was born. And from since I can remember all the secretaries he has ever had were women also. While those are things I've witnessed there are other things I've noticed. Whenever I need computer help there always seems to be a guy there to do the job. My dad has gotten his computers fixed a couple of times, and not once have a seen a female there to do it. And when I took my computer to the Geek Squad to get fixed there were about five guys there to help. One personal realization I have come to, is when it comes to the creative aspect of using computers like power points or reports women seem to dominate. When it comes to the technical aspect of computers men seem to dominate.
